An Air India passenger has complained about finding cockroaches in the food served on a flight from Delhi to New York. The airline has stated that the matter has been raised with the catering company for further investigation.

An Air India spokesperson said in a statement, "We have come to know about a post posted by a passenger on social media, in which a cockroach has been reported in the food served to him on AI 101 operated from Delhi to JFK on 17 September 2024." The airline also expressed concern over the incident.

The woman passenger, in an X post, said a cockroach was found in an omelet served during a Delhi-New York flight. She had exclaimed, 'When we got it, I and my 2-year-old child ate more than half of it. As a result, both of us got food poisoning'.

The female passenger also shared a short video along with pictures of the food served during the flight. She tagged Air India, aviation regulator DGCA, and Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu in this post. The spokesperson further said, "Air India is seriously concerned about the customer experience in the above-mentioned case and has raised the issue with the catering service provider for further investigation.".

The spokesperson said, 'We will take necessary action to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.' Further, the spokesperson said that Air India works with reputed caterers who supply to leading airlines globally and has stringent SOPs and multiple checks to ensure the quality of food served to the guests.
