Clash over electricity in Delhi after liquor policy: Energy Minister alleges – LG conspiring to stop free electricity
After the liquor policy in Delhi, the controversy regarding the free electricity scheme is increasing. Energy Minister Atishi in the Kejriwal government on Monday accused Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena of hatching a conspiracy to stop free electricity. Atishi has also claimed that the Chief Secretary to the Governor is in collusion to benefit the companies of the Electricity Department.
The Energy Minister said in a press conference that some such facts have come to the fore, which raise many questions. Atishi said that a conspiracy is going on to stop free electricity in Delhi because the files of the free electricity scheme are not being shown to the Chief Minister and the Energy Minister. This shows that something is wrong.
The Energy Minister said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has ordered an audit of the subsidy being given to the discoms, so that it can be ascertained whether there is any malpractice.
The Energy Minister said that the Comptroller of India and Auditor General (CAG) impanelled agencies will conduct the audit and instructions in this regard will be issued in two to three days.
He said that on March 10, the LG of Delhi sent a file to the Chief Secretary asking him to take cognizance of the electricity in the cabinet, but it has been 15 days, and we have not been shown any file. Atishi asked whether the LG and the Chief Secretary have a nexus with the power companies. Why are the files coming from the LG office being hidden? Atishi said that I want to tell the people of Delhi that it is the commitment of Arvind Kejriwal to provide 24-hour free electricity to the people here.
