CISF women commandos will protect VIPs; Center has also made a plan for metro and airport
CISF Women Battalion VIP Security: Taking a strong step towards increasing the participation of women in every field of nation-building, the Modi government has approved the establishment of the first women's battalion of CISF. The women's battalion to be formed as a special military contingent will take responsibility for the security of airports, metro rail, and security of VIPs.
On Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the upcoming women's battalion of CISF will take responsibility for the security of the country's important infrastructure like airports and metro rail and will provide security to VIPs as commandos.
The central government approved the first full-fledged women battalion of more than 1000 CISF forces on Monday, because of the force's increased deployment at VIPs, airports, and other large businesses.
Shah said in a post on Instagram that taking a strong step towards realizing PM Modi's vision of increasing the participation of women in every field of nation building, the Modi government has approved the formation of the first all-women battalion of CISF.
The Home Minister said that this decision will definitely fulfill the aspirations of more women's participation in the important task of protecting the country. CISF has more than seven percent women personnel. The current number of personnel of the women force is about 1.80 lakh.
Earlier on October 16, the central government had issued an order to completely remove the anti-terrorism commando force 'NSG' from VIP security due to threats of terrorist attacks in the country. Along with this, it was decided to give the command of the security of nine VIPs of high risk to the Central Security Force (CRPF) from the month of November.
Just days after its removal from the security responsibility of Parliament, the Union Home Ministry has decided to associate the battalion of specially trained soldiers with the VIP security wing of CRPF. Sources say that nine VIPs with Z Plus category VIP security till now were being guarded by the Black Cat commandos of the National Security Guard (NSG).
These nine VIPs include Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BSP supremo Mayawati, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, senior BJP leader LK Advani, Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, former Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh, former Jammu and Kashmir CM Ghulam Nabi Azad, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
