Google was just hit with a $5 billion fine. Google was fined for tracking users when they were using the Chrome browser in incognito mode. To avoid tracking and have his cookies not kept on websites he visits, the user surfs the internet in private mode. However, Google deceived its consumers.

A report by MSPowerUser claims that Google has changed its policy after paying the fine. Now if any user is being tracked in incognito mode, Google will issue an alert to all those users. Currently, this feature is being tested.

Google has made changes to its beta tester disclaimer, stating that while downloads, bookmarks, and reading lists will still be retained, you can now browse in private and keep others from seeing your activity.

Before the fine was applied, there was a disclaimer stating that certain websites can track users. The lawsuit against Google for tracking users when they were using incognito mode was filed in 2020; the case will be decided in February 2024.
