Chinese citizen who pushed Indian-origin security guard in Singapore sentenced will spend six weeks in jail

A Chinese national has been sentenced to six weeks in jail for punching an Indian-origin security guard in Singapore. It is alleged that 42-year-old Chinese national Wang Lin manhandled Indian Prakash Govindan Damodaran in a mall on November 6, 2021. In this incident he fell, breaking his wrist.

According to news agency PTI, the accused Wang Lin is working as a director in a company. He had gone to the mall to take his wife and child on the day of the incident. It was raining when this whole incident happened. As a result, Wang Lin parked his car on the street closest to the mall, so that he could protect his family from the rain.

The defense counsel told the court that while parking the vehicle near the mall, the security guard Prakash was standing near a chevron mark on the road. He signaled Wang to stop. According to the lawyer, Wang took back his vehicle after security guard Prakash raised an objection. Despite this, the guard stumbled on his vehicle in front. Angered by this, Wang got into a fight with Prakash, during which the accused pushed the security guard with both his hands. After which he fell on the road on his back.

Amidst the scuffle, Wang's wife intervened, after which the accused along with the family left the spot. Prakash was taken to the hospital after the incident. During treatment, it was revealed that he had a fracture in his left wrist. Wang was arrested two days after the incident. After which the court convicted him in April 2022. According to the counsel for the accused, his client has suffered mental stress and agony since the incident.
