Central Banker of the Year goes to Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das; SBI named to be the best Indian bank

US magazine 'Global Finance' has ranked Shaktikanta Das, the governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as the top central banker. He has been ranked as a top central banker globally for the second consecutive year. 'Governor Shaktikanta Das has been given 'A Plus' in the Central Bank Report Card 2024 for the second consecutive year, the RBI announced in a tweet posted on social media platform X. It was presented to Shaktikanta Das at a 'Global Finance' event in Washington, DC, USA.
Das has been ranked top in the list of three central bank governors who have been given an 'A Plus' rating. 'Global Finance' magazine said in a statement that ratings were given on a scale of 'A' to 'F' for success in controlling inflation, economic growth targets, currency stability, and interest rate management. Here 'A' indicates excellent performance while 'F' indicates complete failure. Global Finance magazine has also declared the State Bank of India (SBI) as India's Best Bank for 2024. SBI was selected the Best Bank of India for 2024 by Global Finance at the 31st Annual Best Bank Awards, which were held along with the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meeting in Washington. In recognition of the bank's dedication to providing exceptional services and advancing financial inclusion by winning over customers across the country, SBI Chairman CS Shetty received the award.
