The Central Board of Examinations (CBSE) has decided that closed-circuit television (CCTV) will be installed in all the schools to be made examination centers for the board examination in 2025. The central board is implementing the CCTV policy for the board examinations starting from the 2025 session. The examination body will conduct CBSE Board Exams 2025 for about 44 lakh students of class 10th and 12th in about 8,000 schools in India and abroad.

Giving information, the board said that if a school does not have CCTV facility, it will not be considered as an examination center for CBSE 10th, 12th Board Exam 2025. Also, schools that want to become examination centers will have to install CCTV cameras at their own expense.

CBSE has developed a CCTV policy to ensure that the board examinations are conducted in a fair and transparent manner.

The notice said, "All schools are directed to ensure that CCTVs are installed in their schools as per the policy, if they do not have CCTV and wish to give their consent to the board to decide their school as an examination center." What is its purpose?

The CBSE board has also issued guidelines for the use of CCTV policy in schools during annual examinations. The main objective of the CBSE CCTV policy is to detect and address inappropriate behavior during class 10th, 12th board examinations.

All these guidelines issued in the notice

  • CCTV cameras should be installed to cover all areas of the examination hall including entrance, exit and examination desk.
  • All students and staff will be informed about the presence of CCTV cameras in advance and notices will also be put up at the examination centers.
  • CCTV recordings will be retained for two months from the date of declaration of CBSE 10th, 12th Result 2025.
  • At each examination center, one person per 10 rooms or 240 students will be assigned the responsibility to constantly monitor the fair conduct of the examination.
  • One invigilator will be appointed for 10 rooms who will regularly monitor the CCTV footage and report any incidents of use of unfair means.
  • The school will collect feedback from students, staff and examination officials to identify areas of improvement and make necessary adjustments in policy and procedures.
  • Examination staff, including invigilators and security personnel, should receive training on the operation of CCTV systems, privacy considerations and procedures for reviewing footage.
  • Students and parents should be informed about the purpose of CCTV surveillance and their rights during the examination through various means such as handbooks, notice boards or orientation sessions.
