CBI raids at 56 locations in 20 states: Action in child sexual abuse material circulation case

In the case of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSEM), the CBI team raided 56 places in 19 states and one union territory. This raid has been done under Operation Meghchakra. Based on the inputs of the Interpol unit of Singapore and New Zealand, the CBI has carried out this operation.
CBI informed that many such gangs related to child pornography have been identified, which do business with child sexual abuse material. Apart from this, these people also physically blackmail children.
The CBI became a part of Interpol's International Anti-Child Sexual Abuse Database in April. With the use of state-of-the-art analytics software, the accused will be quickly identified. The investigating agency is among a select group of agencies from 67 countries, which are linked to the database.
According to the information, the International Interpol Unit has a database of more than 2.7 million photos and videos, which helps to identify seven victims every day around the world. According to this database, more than 27 thousand victims and more than 12 thousand accused have been identified so far. This software not only helps in sharing of information among the investigating officers but also saves time.
On September 19, a hearing was held in the Supreme Court regarding child pornography and the uploading of rape videos on social media. During this, the court asked social media companies what steps have been taken to stop this. Apart from this, the court had asked all social media companies including Facebook, and Twitter to submit a report within 6 weeks.
Child pornography has always been a matter of concern in the country. There have been cases of child sexual abuse on many occasions in the past. In November last year also, the CBI raided 77 locations in 14 states of the country. The raid was then named Operation Carbon. Under this operation, the CBI raided many big cities in UP. 7 people were arrested in the case.
During the raids, the CBI exposed more than 50 such WhatsApp groups. In this, the names of more than five thousand people were revealed, who was sharing the material related to this case on social media.
