During the raid, some documents related to the case were recovered at different centres, along with Rs 60 lakh, whose account was not found with the in charge of the centre. Apart from this, the names of the rice mill owners and grain merchants have also come up in this nexus.
A case has been registered against 74 people associated with FCI in the matter. CBI has taken this action after the arrest of corruption-accused FCI DGM Rajeev Kumar Mishra. Let us tell you that the investigating agency had arrested Rajeev Kumar Mishra from Chandigarh red-handed while taking a bribe.
According to media reports, these officers, rice mill owners and grain storage companies used to buy inferior-quality grains and rice and sell them to FCI at higher prices. This whole rigging was going on with the help of FCI officials. The investigating agency was keeping an eye on those officials and the owners of the grain mill for several days.
According to CBI, from technical assistants to the executive director were involved in this nexus. After complete preparation, the agency started action against them on Wednesday. At the same time, the DGM of FCI was caught taking a bribe of Rs 50,000.
CBI had received several complaints regarding corruption in FCI, after which the agency started operations against this nexus. These included food procurement, warehousing and distributors, rice mill owners, and grain traders. For the last 6 months, the agency was collecting intelligence against them. After getting the input, the CBI team raided several cities of Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.
