Case on 5 including SP-DSP in Faridkot: Accused of demanding 50 lakh bribe in the name of IG in Baba Dayal Das murder case
A case has been registered against 5 people including SP Investigation Ganesh Kumar at Kotkapura Sadar Police Station in Faridkot, Punjab. All of them are accused of demanding a bribe of lakhs of rupees in the name of Faridkot Range IG Pradeep Kumar in the murder case. In this, the names of DSP Sushil Kumar along with SP Investigation, SI Khem Chand Parashar, in charge of the RTI branch of IG office Faridkot and 2 people are included.
According to sources, on 7 November 2019, Saint Baba Dayal Das of Gaushala Kotsukhiya was murdered. It is alleged that in the same case Baba Gagan Das, head of Harka Das Dera, was intimidated by the officers, and a bribe of Rs 50 lakh was sought in the name of IG Pradeep Kumar, but the deal was done for Rs 35 lakh.
Out of this, Rs 20 lakh has been taken. Now the pressure is being created to take 15 lakhs, but the IG got the inkling of it. He immediately stopped the investigation and brought the matter to the notice of Vigilance.
After this, vigilance officers from Chandigarh and Ferozepur reached Faridkot on Friday. Here he interrogated the SP office for two hours. After this, on the recommendation of vigilance, a case was registered against the five accused at Kotkapura Sadar police station at night.
On the other hand, SP Gagnesh says that he has not done anything like this. All the allegations against him are baseless.
The struggle for the post of head of Harka Das Dera, located in Kotsukhia village of Faridkot, has been going on for many years. In the same struggle, in 1986, the then Dera chief Sant Mohan Das was also killed by unknown people. When Baba Hari Das was appointed head of the Dera 14 years ago, he too had to face a tough fight with a man.
The Dera has 12 shakhas in Punjab and 12 in Haridwar in Uttarakhand, so there is a tussle between the heads of some shakhas for the headship of the dera in Kotsukhia. Because the Dera has a lot of agricultural lands. Apart from the struggle for the headship, the Dera is also involved in disputes with private individuals who are allegedly encroaching on some of its lands.
