Acting Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University Buddhadeb Sao told the media that the group claimed itself to be a representative of a human rights group. However, Buddhadeb Sav asked the group to introduce themselves through a written communique with their identity cards.
A police officer said a complaint was lodged at Jadavpur police station against the self-styled general secretary of 'Asian Human Rights Society', Qazi Sadiq Hussain, who along with 25-30 others entered the university campus in army uniform on Wednesday afternoon.
"Around 4.20 p.m., a person named Qazi Sadiq Hussain posing as the general secretary of 'Asian Human Rights Society'. Sadiq entered the university campus in army uniform along with 20-30 others," the official said. The leader of the group, who entered the Jadavpur University campus by mistake, along with two others later went to the office of VC Buddhadeb Sao and left soon after.
Buddhadeb Saw told the media, “They introduced themselves as a human rights group. Because they sent me a communique for a meeting, I gave them time. I asked them in writing to give me their identity cards. said."
