C-295 transport aircraft will be built for the Air Force in Vadodara, Gujarat. For this, Tata has tied up with the European company Airbus. The special thing is that such aircraft were not made in the country till now. The total cost of this project is Rs 21,935 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this plant in Vadodara on Sunday.
In September 2021, India signed a deal worth about Rs 21,000 crore with Airbus Defense and Space (ADSpace). In this, there was a deal to buy C-295 aircraft instead of the old Avro-748. 56 aircraft were requisitioned. Of these, 14 will come from Spain and the remaining 40 will be made in Vadodara, Gujarat.
A Defense Ministry official said that these aircraft will be completely indigenous. Between September 2023 and August 2025, 16 aircraft will be handed over in ready condition. The indigenously made aircraft will be supplied from 2026 to 2031.
PM Modi has been constantly talking about making the defence field self-reliant. In this episode, now such aircraft will be manufactured in the country, which can be easily taken to difficult places. These aircraft will be equipped with a capacity to carry 71 soldiers, 44 paratroopers and 24 stretchers. These aircraft will also be equipped with indigenously made electronic warfare suits. These aircraft will be very useful in times of natural calamity. Airforce will be easy in the rescue operation.
Earlier in September, the Gujarat government had tied up with Vedanta-Foxconn Group for a project worth Rs 1.54 lakh crore. Vedanta Limited and Taiwan's Foxconn will jointly produce the semiconductor in Gujarat. Its plant will be set up near Ahmedabad. It is claimed that this will provide employment to 1 lakh people.
Inaugurated several projects in Bharuch, Anand during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's three-day visit to Gujarat. Launched projects worth Rs 1448 crore in Jamnagar. These projects were related to irrigation, power, water supply and urban infrastructure.
