Sri Lanka saved its honour by winning the final Test at the Oval by eight wickets. Sri Lanka now ranks fifth in the World Test Championship points table after this victory. Sri Lanka climbed into the top five, trailing only England and South Africa.

Sri Lanka has won three out of seven Test matches in the 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle, with a win percentage of 42.86. England ranks sixth with a win percentage of 42.19, having won eight out of 16 Test matches. South Africa is in seventh place, with a 38.89 win percentage.

Sri Lanka still has to play a tough series in the World Test Championship cycle, which includes two home series against New Zealand and Australia apart from the South Africa tour. Meanwhile, the England team will leave for Pakistan from here for a three-match series and to end this series, it has to play one more match in New Zealand.

Talking about the last Test match, Sri Lanka's first innings was reduced to 263 runs in reply to England's first innings of 325 runs. However, on the third day, Sri Lankan fast bowlers stopped England's second innings at 156 runs. Sri Lanka was given a target of 219 runs to win, which was easily won thanks to Pathum Nissanka's unbeaten 127 runs.
