Budget 2024: Why Economic Survey report will not come today, know the reason behind it

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to present the budget in Parliament tomorrow.

There will be general elections this time. The Union Budget will not be presented in its place; instead, the Interim Budget will. A few days prior, the Finance Minister had announced that Vote on Account would be implemented this time.

Here, the government provides the expense reports for carrying out the work for a few months, or until the elections are over. The Union Budget will be presented when the new government is formed following the elections.

The Economic Survey is also released annually, one day ahead of the budget. It won't be presented this time. This is because in the event of an interim budget or vote on account, the Economic Survey report is not given.

In the Economic Survey, correct details of the economic survey of the country are given. It is presented every year a day before the budget. The first Economic Survey Report in India was presented in 1950-51. Till 1964, this report was presented along with the budget, but from 1964 onwards it started being presented a day before the general budget.

Although the government is not presenting the Economic Survey Report this time, the government presented an economic report on January 29, 2024. The title of this report is 'The Indian Economy: A Review'.

In this, the government had given details of the development of the last 10 years. Regarding this report, the government had clearly said that it is an economic report. According to this report, India's economy will become 5 trillion dollars in the next 3 years.
