BSF head constable Lal Fam Kima, who was killed in unprovoked Pakistani sniper firing along the International Border in Jammu on Thursday, was a "fearless" soldier and once saved the lives of a dozen of his colleagues during an anti-terrorist operation along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. Was.

“Tum saala pin nikalega”, Kima had shouted before emptying his light machine gun (LMG) to kill a terrorist hiding inside a 'dhoke' (mud house) in Gool village during an operation in the winter of 1998.

The village is located in the upper reaches of the Pir Panjal Range along the India-Pakistan Line of Control (LOC).

Recalling that operation, the then Commanding Officer (CO) of Kima had written an emotional post which was shared with several Border Security Force (BSF) officers on social media platforms.

Kima (50) was martyred while on duty on Thursday when he was shot by a Pakistani sniper from across the border in the Ramgarh sector of Jammu on the India-Pakistan international border.

A resident of Aizawl, the head constable had joined the Border Force in 1996 and was currently posted with the 148th BSF battalion, which is assigned IB protection.

In a "reminiscence" post for the brave soldier, former Kima CO Sukhminder (only first name was mentioned in the post) said that when he heard about the death in the morning, his "heart argued against his mind. ", fearing that this might happen to his old colleague who was killed in the unprovoked firing incident at the IB.

In the post, the former CO said, "He has spent nearly 25 years citing Kima's distinguished act of bravery and alertness for the young officers and soldiers during LoC operations".

The post, accessed by PTI, said the terrorists were hiding inside a 'cover' and after the firing and grenade attack, the terrorists blew themselves up in a 'fidayeen' (suicide) attack so that the nearby BSF party could also be killed. Can be killed.

Even as smoke continued to billow from the 'dhoka', the BSF team reached inside the smoldering remains of the mud hut and found three dead terrorists.

He said, suddenly there was a loud screaming sound. Will you pull out the pin??!!!! After this, there was a strong firing of LMG, due to which everyone started running to hide.

The post reads it was Lal Pham Kima (he was a constable at that time) who saw the almost-dead terrorist (deemed dead by BSF) removing the pin. He threw the grenade even as he was breathing his last.

While the rest of the party was busy scouring the arms cache, it was the ever-vigilant Kima who spotted the stealthy movement of a dying terrorist trying to detonate a grenade, the former CO wrote.

Had the terrorist succeeded, he said, there would certainly have been dozens of casualties.

Today, Lal Fam Kima attained martyrdom, he wrote in the post shared among several BSF personnel and officers. He was fearless even when he was a young constable with two or three years of service and is fearless now as a head constable. This simple, humble, and innocent warrior lived bravely and sacrificed his life bravely.

Floral tributes were paid to Kima's mortal remains in Jammu before being sent to her home state Mizoram. His family consists of a mother, a wife, two daughters, and a son.
