Classic Legends returned with the iconic UK brand BSA in the late Q4 of 2021. BSA Gold Star 650 gets launched in the Indian market, this Independence Day.

"This is a motorcycle that has enjoyed good response in overseas markets—Europe and the UK—since it was exported from India. Starting back in 1861, the BSA brand was taken under the Mahindra Group in 2018 and now reappears in the Indian market.

It is the conventional retro design under the hood of the roadster combined with modern technology, offering it a totally new combination on wheels, with a 652 cc single-cylinder DOHC 4V liquid-cooled power pump. This mill churns out 45 bhp and 55 Nm of peak torque. Thus, gaining eyes and making huge success across some other nations with models like this Gold Star 650 has been a huge strategic move to target the country of India.

While it is a single-cylinder motorcycle, it is set to compete head-on with the twin-cylinder Royal Enfield Interceptor 650—but more in styling and performance, rather than any direct comparison. The outside design of the engine clearly shows the classic look of the old Gold Star, a combination of old-fashioned beauty and modern engineering.

The Gold Star 650 is equipped with 41 mm telescopic front forks and twin shocks at the rear. It rides on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. Both are shod with Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres, which are known for their grip and durability. Braking duties are managed by a single disc at both the front and rear, supported by a Continental-sourced dual-channel ABS system.

The modern/retro roadster features classic design elements that pay tribute to its heritage. It features a circular headlight unit and a muscular tear-drop-shaped fuel tank, which add to its retro appeal. The centrally mounted footpegs and single-piece seat are designed for a comfortable riding posture, while the side-mounted exhaust system and chunky front and rear fenders further enhance its overall look.

The BSA Gold Star is available in multiple color options. These include Highland Green, Insignia Red, Midnight Black, Dawn Silver, and Legacy Silver Sheen. The motorcycle is built on a twin cradle chassis and has a top speed of 166 kmph.
