Nine days after his disappearance, the body of former Sikkim minister RC Poudyal was found in a canal near Siliguri in West Bengal. The police have now given information about this case. Preferably, the body of 80-year-old Poudyal was found floating in the Teesta canal, Fulbari, on Tuesday.
Giving information about this incident, the police officer said that according to the report, it is suspected that the body may have been brought down from the upper part of the Teesta River. He was recognized by this watch and the cloth he was wearing.
The police had constituted a special investigation team to trace the politician after he went missing from his hometown Chhota Singtam in Pakyong district on July 7, the official said. "The investigation into the death will continue, Paudyal was the Deputy Speaker in the first Sikkim Assembly and later became the state's Forest Minister," the official said.
He was one of the prominent figures in the political scene of the Himalayan state through the late 1970s and 1980s because he came up with the Rising Sun Party. He was also exceptionally erudite regarding cultural and social dynamics in Sikkim.
He said, "I'm deeply grieved by the sudden demise of late RC Paudyal Jue, a statesman and a distinguished senior political leader who served the state government in Sikkim in various capacities as a minister and was a Jhulke Gam party leader.".
