Blasphemy accused killed in Pakistan; Crowd storms police station

Mob in Pakistan lynches accused of blasphemy outside the police station. When the mob attacked the police station, the policemen ran away. However, he later returned with extra force and saved the body of the accused of blasphemy from being burnt.
The name of the accused was Mohammad Waris (45). The incident is in the Nankana Sahib district of Punjab province. Nankana's DSP and SHO were suspended after the incident.
Mohammad Waris was accused of insulting the Quran. After this, he was arrested on Sunday morning. A police officer told- Hundreds of people entered the police station after hearing about the news of blasphemy. Broke the lock of the lockup and took the heir out. He was thrashed with sticks and rods. He died on the spot.
According to the report of the Pakistani newspaper 'The Dawn', the mob wanted to hang the accused. The police reached the spot in time and took him to the police station. This did not calm the anger of the people. He reached the police station chasing the police car. Creating a ruckus, asked the accused to be handed over to the crowd, but when the police did not agree, people broke the main gate and entered inside the police station. Here ransacked and took the accused out and killed him.
The policemen were also scared of the menacing intentions of the mob and at that time ran away from the police station. However, later a large number of police from other police stations also reached there and saved the body of the accused from burning.
This is not the first time that a mob in Pakistan has done something like this. In December 2021, a Sri Lankan factory manager was first beaten to death by a mob and then set on fire on charges of blasphemy.
In the cabin of this person named Priyantha Kumara, a poster was found torn, with Mohammad written on it. The workers working in the factory took it as an insult to the Prophet.
Pakistan has very strict laws regarding blasphemy. Due to this many people are beaten to death. In April 2017, Mishaal Khan was beaten to death by his colleagues at Mardan University. In 2012, a mentally challenged man was dragged from the police station and killed by a violent mob near Bahawalpur. Similarly, in Dado also, the mob entered the police station and burnt alive the accused of blasphemy.
