BJP leader broke daughter's marriage with Muslim: People said - This is love jihad, Hindu organizations burnt effigies; Decision was taken after criticism
A BJP leader in Uttarakhand was about to get his daughter married to a Muslim man but came under pressure from Hindu organizations and stopped the marriage. Due to fixing the daughter's relationship in a Muslim house, he had to face criticism from organizations, after which he canceled the marriage.
According to the news agency PTI, the name of the BJP leader is Yashpal Benam, who is the chairman of Pauri municipality. His daughter was to be married on 28 May. The wedding card went viral on social media on Thursday, following which both the leader's supporters and opponents called him a double-faced person.
Many people also said that the film The Kerala Story is being made tax-free in BJP-ruled states, and here a BJP leader is getting his daughter married to a Muslim.
Talking to the media, Yashpal said that he was getting his daughter married to a Muslim man for the sake of her happiness. But after seeing the reactions of people on social media regarding this marriage, I postponed the marriage. Now I have to listen to the people also.
Regarding the news of this marriage, the officials of the Pauri temple committee had said that it is a very serious matter. Getting daughters of Hindu families married to people of other religions is a part of propaganda. The laws of conversion are being tampered with in India. The government itself is demolishing the mausoleums that were built by people of other religions on government land. Even after this, BJP leaders are getting their daughters married to Muslim men.
On Friday, Hindutva organizations protested against leader Yashpal at Pauri's Jhanda Chowk. Organizations burnt his effigy. Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bhairav Sena, and Bajrang Dal participated in this protest. District Executive President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Deepak Gaur said that we strongly oppose this marriage.
