Big relief to Canada on e-Visa service, India made a big decision before the meeting between PM Modi and Trudeau

India on Wednesday resumed e-Visa services for Canadian citizens. The Government of India has resumed electronic visa services for Canadian citizens after a pause of almost two months. Earlier in September, India had suspended its visa service in Canada citing 'operational reasons' in the wake of increased tensions between India and Canada and diplomatic expulsions from both countries.

This information has been given by news agency ANI quoting sources. Visa services were suspended on September 21 amid the ongoing diplomatic dispute over Canada's claims that "agents of the Indian government" were involved in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen, in June.

India has announced the resumption of e-visa at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are going to face each other in the virtual meeting of the G-20. The action taken by India before this meeting is being seen as a positive step towards bringing the mutual relations between the two countries back on track.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had given a statement in the country's Parliament accusing the Indian government of the involvement of Indian agents in the murder of Nijjar. After this, tension arose between the two countries. However, India has rejected Trudeau's allegations as absurd and motivated. At the same time, India declared Nijjar a terrorist in the year 2020.
