Big decision by Rajasthan High Court to ban Khap Panchayats
Rajasthan News: Rajasthan High Court has taken a big step to stop social evils like social boycotts, Naata Pratha, and Khap Panchayats.

Rajasthan High Court has made a strong step towards eliminating social evils like social boycott, Naata Pratha, and Khap Panchayats. Acting on this matter seriously, a one-man bench headed by Justice Farzand Ali appointed a five-membered commission, which will visit rural areas and provide a report on ground realities about these evil practices.
In fact, four senior advocates and one social worker have also been appointed as members of the commission. On the basis of the report, orders will be issued as needed against social ills. Full assistance will be given by Superintendents of Police of relevant areas to the commission.
Social boycott, illegal fines, Naata Pratha, and other social evils committed by Khap Panchayats have become a regular occurrence in western districts of Rajasthan. The court has stated that a definite action plan must be drafted for stringently prohibiting such cases. According to the information, this commission will conduct a detailed study of illegal decrees of Khap Panchayats, cases of social boycotts, and evil practices like Naata Pratha and will talk to the victims' families and affected people.
During this time, the Rajasthan High Court has expressed concern over the increasing cases of social evils, especially in the districts of western Rajasthan. Incidents of dictatorial decrees of Khap Panchayats are constantly coming to the fore in districts like Jodhpur Rural, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Nagau,r and Pali.
The commission will visit the villages of these districts. At the same time, the cases will be reviewed by inspecting the police stations. Along with this, there will be discussions with the Sarpanch, Gram Sevak, and Block Development Officers of the villages.
The five-member commission constituted by the High Court includes four senior advocates and a social worker. It includes Advocate Ramavtar Singh Chaudhary, Advocate Bhagirath Rai Bishnoi, Advocate Shobha Prabhakar, Advocate Devkinandan Vyas, and social worker Mahavir Kankaria. All these members will act as court commissioners and submit their reports to the High Court.
It is worth noting that there was a long-standing demand to end social evils in Rajasthan. Because practices like Naata Pratha, social boycotts, illegal Panchayat decrees, and violation of women's rights are against the fundamental rights of the Constitution. Therefore, this decision of the Rajasthan High Court is being appreciated everywhere.
