In the final week of December 2022, he barely avoided a horrifying car crash on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. Following that, and after a protracted course of treatment, he was fit again. He just received approval from NCA to participate in the IPL.

At the same time, the board said in the medical update that Rishabh Pant has been declared fit as a wicketkeeper-batsman for IPL 2024 after undergoing a 14-month rehabilitation process following a road accident near Roorkee, Uttarakhand on December 30, 2022. In IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals will play its first match against Punjab Kings in Chandigarh on 23 March.
