European Union (EU) President Ursla von der Linn has reached America on an important tour. He will meet US President Joe Biden at the White House on Friday.
This meeting of the EU Chief and Biden is considered very important. Actually, two issues will be discussed in this. First- Subsidy on clean technology. Second- the condition of Ukraine and the supply of weapons to it. Many statements about America and Ukraine differ on these two issues. It is believed that both leaders will prepare a solid strategy.
Both the US and the EU want carbon emissions to be brought down to zero in the future. In other words, both these big economic powers want to achieve carbon neutrality. This requires clean technology.
The US is going to subsidize $369 billion on its clean technology products by 2050. This is called the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). EU is opposing it. According to him, this subsidy rate is very high.
A special task force was formed to resolve this issue. Lin and Biden can take the final decision on their report.
The issue of Ukraine and China is also going to be important in Biden and Lin's meeting. Both America and the EU want to give full support to Ukraine. Both have imposed very strict sanctions against Russia. The biggest concern for both is that there was no effect of such restrictions on Russia. The big proof of this is that Russia's attacks on Ukraine are continuing unabated.
Both the leaders will consider where the steps taken against Russia have been lacking, due to which Moscow has not been forced to back down so far.
The second issue is that of China. It is believed that China is helping Russia in every way. Apart from this, his companies are spying in European countries and America in different ways. In this meeting, strict restrictions can also be considered for China. American Foreign Secretary Antony Blinken had made it clear recently that if China gives arms to Russia, it will have to face the consequences.
