Bengaluru: Amidst the increasing cybercrime, Bengaluru Police has launched a campaign in which they have taken the initiative to reduce such cases. In fact, on the basis of registered complaints of cybercrime, the police have blocked more than 15 thousand SIM cards which were used by fraudsters to cheat the common people. Police are still analyzing last year's case file.

These days, many people are being cheated through illegal SIM cards. Meanwhile, Bengaluru City Police has identified and blocked more than 1500 SIM cards, which were used by fraudsters, in the last three weeks to curb cybercrime.

Police said on Saturday that cases of such cyber crime have increased rapidly across the city limits, due to which the police have taken this action. According to the police, a special campaign was launched on August 16 to curb cybercrime incidents in the city.

Under this, the police identified and blocked 15,378 SIM cards from August 16 to September 7, which were used by fraudsters.

Most of the blocked SIM cards were found to be operational in Northern India and were used by fraudsters to defraud residents through various fraudulent means. The officer said, "Since January this year, there has been an increase in cases related to cybercrime and we received a lot of complaints. In these cases, the victims registered the numbers through which they were defrauded. We have registered all those numbers." Verified and he was immediately blocked."

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Command Centre) Ravindra Gadadi said that a fraudster can use the same SIM card to defraud many innocent people. In such a situation, if the SIM card is not blocked immediately, it can be used to target other victims.

"This is a drive and whenever we identify such suspicious numbers, we will block them," the officer said. The police are also analyzing case files from previous years to identify such SIM cards that are being used by It will be easier to block all those SIM cards that were used to carry out fraudulent activities.
