Ban on carrying scissors and knives in Rajasthan schools, government action after Udaipur violence
Udaipur: After the stabbing incident in a school in Udaipur, Rajasthan, the education department has taken precautionary steps and banned carrying scissors and knives in schools. Here, after the incident, communal tension has spread in Udaipur and mobile internet services have been suspended in many areas for 24 hours from Friday night.
It has been banned by the Education Department of Rajasthan to carry knives, scissors, or other sharp objects in schools. The order was issued while taking a lesson from the stabbing incident at the Udaipur government school, said the education department. As per the order, bringing sharp weapons such as knives, blades, sharp scissors, or any other sharp object to school is strictly prohibited.
The department believes that the bringing of any such object will be considered a violation of discipline. Besides, this order has been instructed to be put on the notice board by the principals of schools. Other than this, teachers have been ordered to check regularly the bags and other belongings of the students.
Ashish Modi of the IANS agency, Director of Secondary Education Department, said that the family sends the kids to school to study. In such a situation, the school premises should be the safest place for the students. No kind of violence whatsoever should take place there. Keeping in mind the safety of the students, this guideline has been issued by the Education Department.
It's in the backdrop that a class 10 student stabbed his classmate in a government school in Udaipur on Friday. Following this, communal tension erupted in the district, and mobile internet services have been suspended for 24 hours from Friday night in many areas. A holiday has also been declared in all government and private schools of Udaipur till further orders.
According to the Jagran, the student injured in the attack is being treated at the district hospital and the accused student has been taken into custody. Both the students are minors. Additional policemen have been deployed in the city to maintain law and order.
