Balochistan's Gwadar getting out of Pakistan's control: Section 144 imposed in the city, yet protests continue; This upset China
The situation in Gwadar of Balochistan province of Pakistan is getting out of control. The Government of Pakistan is not listening to the voices of its own citizens in order to maintain its friendship with China. The protest in Gwadar has taken a violent form. Section 144 has been imposed after the death of a policeman. The Internet is also closed. Despite this, Haq Do Tehreek (HDT) continues to protest against the China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC).
This performance has also become a cause of trouble for China. Chinese envoy Li Bijan agreed that this is a cause for concern. China is talking to HDT chairman Rehman and other local leaders, but protesters are targeting the Gwadar East Bay Expressway and the under-construction New Gwadar International Airport. Therefore, the path of dialogue is also getting closed.
More than 100 protesters have been arrested in the last five days in several areas including Gwadar, Pasni, Turbat and Makran. There are also women among them. Cases have also been registered against another 35 people.
Village HDT president and leader of the protest Maulana Rehman told Dainik Bhaskar that this is a war for the rights of the people of Gwadar. We are not against Chinese citizens or the development of the country, but if Chinese interest affects people's lives, it will not be tolerated. The protest will continue.
The agitating protesters demand that the number of security posts is reduced. Fish smuggling being done by Chinese trawling from the sea should be stopped as it affects their livelihood. Along with this, the agitators are also demanding relaxation in the rules for doing business with Iran.
