Now business to business (B2B) business can also be done on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) established with the support of the government. MSMEs can get huge benefits from this. On Monday, ONDC CEO T. Koshy announced the launch of a B2B business.
With this launch, a merchant on the ONDC network will now be able to do wholesale trading directly with another merchant. Koshy said that soon the government may announce assistance to MSMEs for digital catalogs and digital exhibitions of their products. So that they can come forward for digital business.
Presently Business Consumer (B2C) business was being done on the ONDC network. The ONDC network was launched in September last year as a pilot project. According to Koshy, at present ONDCs are in more than 240 cities in the country. Out of these, hundreds of transactions are being done daily on the ONDC network in 20-25 cities.
Most of the vegetables are being sold on the ONDC network. 15-20 thousand such transactions are being done daily. ONDC network is becoming very popular in Bangalore and Kerala. With the commencement of B2B business, 1.5 crore GST-registered MSMEs will be able to take advantage of this by joining ONDC.
