Average speed of Vande Bharat has decreased from 84 to 76 km per hour in 3 years, what is the reason behind this

The Ministry of Railways has given new information about the speed of Vande Bharat Express trains in response to an RTI. According to this, the average speed of Vande Bharat trains was 84.48 km per hour in 2020-21. In 2023-24, it has come down to 76.25 km per hour.

Officials said that along with Vande Bharat, the speed of many other trains has also been affected, especially those on whose routes construction work is going on. Apart from this, the movement of some Vande Bharat trains has been started in such areas where their speed has been affected due to geographical reasons or weather.

The Central Railway Zone official used the Vande Bharat train as an example, which runs between Mumbai CSMT and Madgaon. He stated that the Ghat sector, where trains go through low-altitude mountain ranges, makes up the majority of the Konkan Railway Zone. This is a tricky area. Where safety must be compromised in order to achieve fast speeds.

He said that the situation becomes challenging even during the monsoon. During this time we have to keep the maximum speed of all trains up to 75 km per hour. A person named Chandra Shekhar Gaur, a resident of Madhya Pradesh had filed an RTI. Through this, he had sought information about the speed of Vande Bharat Express trains running in the country.
