Australia and Bangladesh faced off in the 44th T20 World Cup match of 2024. The match at Antigua's Sir Vivian Richards Stadium was called off due to rain, and Australia defeated Bangladesh by 28 runs using the Duckworth Lewis rule. This is Australia's eighth consecutive victory in T20 cricket.

Bangladesh lost the toss and batted first, scoring 140 for eight in 20 overs. In reply, Australia scored 100 runs in 11.2 overs, losing two wickets before the game was halted due to rain. The match was called off due to heavy rain. The score was 72 runs when the match was stopped under the Duckworth Lewis rule, with Australia leading by 28 runs. In such a situation, they were declared the winners.

For Australia, opener David Warner scored the 28th half-century of his international T20 career. He scored an unbeaten 53 runs with the help of five fours and three sixes in just 35 balls. Apart from him, Glenn Maxwell remained unbeaten by scoring 14 runs in six balls. Australia lost two wickets in the form of Travis Head and captain Mitchell Marsh. Travis Head was clean bowled by Rishad Hussain on a score of 31 runs. Rishad Hussain also sent Mitchell Marsh to the pavilion by getting him out LBW on just 1 run.

The Indian team is at the top in Group 1 of Super-8, while the Australian team is in second place. India defeated Afghanistan by 47 runs in their first match. Therefore their net run rate is +2.350. Meanwhile, the Kangaroo team's net run rate is +1.824. Australia will now face Afghanistan in the next Super-8 match on June 22. Whereas, the Bangladesh team will face India on June 22.
