Assam Police takes major action on cough syrup, seizes more than 61,000 bottles worth Rs 4 crore
Assam Police on Thursday night seized 61000 bottles of banned cough syrup with a market value of Rs 4 crore from a truck in the Churaibari area of Karimganj district on the Assam-Tripura border. The police gave this information on Friday. The police also caught the driver of the truck, who has been identified as Vishwajit Biswas. Police are further investigating the matter.

The police also caught the driver of the truck, who has been identified as Vishwajit Biswas. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a truck in the Churaibari area, he said.
Karimganj district's Additional Superintendent of Police Pratap Das said, "Our campaign against drugs is on. Last night, we stopped a truck. We recovered 61,000 bottles of banned cough syrup from the truck and seized them. We have also caught the driver of the truck. The market value of the seized cough syrup bottles is estimated to be around Rs 4 crore.
Further investigation is on in the matter.
Earlier on August 1, the Assam Police seized over 31,000 bottles of cough syrup from a truck in Assam's Karimganj district on the Assam-Tripura border.
According to the police, on August 1, a police team of Chathe Uraibari watch post found an abandoned truck in the Churaibari area on the Assam-Tripura border.
