Today (on Monday), Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw gave fact-checks on the comments made by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on social media regarding the results of the 2024 Indian elections. Ashwini Vaishnaw strongly refuted Zuckerberg's claim in which the Facebook CEO had said that most of the current governments, including India's NDA, lost elections and lost power after the Covid pandemic. Railway Minister Vaishnaw wrote on X, "It’s disappointing to see misinformation from Mr. Zuckerberg himself. Let’s uphold facts and credibility."

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav criticized Meta Chief Mark Zuckerberg's false claim that India's incumbent party has lost all major elections. He said that it is disappointing to see the Meta CEO giving misinformation. The Bharatiya Janata Party won the 2024 general elections. With this, Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister for the third consecutive time. However, the CEO of Meta told podcaster Joe Rogan that incumbent governments in all countries, including India, have lost elections.

Meta CEO said in the podcast, 'The year 2024 was a big election year around the world. Incumbent governments, including India, have lost the trust of voters during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people in the US see it as an American event, but I think the response to COVID has probably led to a breakdown and loss of trust in many governments around the world, as 2024 was a big election year around the world. And you know these are all countries, India, there are many countries where elections were held and the incumbent governments lost basically every single one of them.' He said that many elections in 2024 resulted in the defeat of these governments.

Reacting to the comment, the Union Minister clarified that the people of India have reaffirmed their trust in the Modi-led NDA. He said, "As the world's largest democracy, India contested the 2024 elections with over 640 million voters. The people of India reaffirmed their trust in the NDA led by PM Narendra Modi. Meta Chief Mark Zuckerberg's claim that most incumbent governments, including India, lost the 2024 elections post-Covid is factually incorrect." Appreciating the efforts of the Modi government during the pandemic, he asked tech billionaire Zuckerberg to maintain facts and credibility.
