Arrested for stealing data of 69 crore people: Targeted people of 24 states and 8 metro cities, was selling through cloud link
Cyberabad Police on Saturday arrested a person who is allegedly involved in stealing, storing and selling personal and confidential data of 66.9 crore people and organizations across 24 states and 8 metro cities.
Police said that accused Vinay Bhardwaj also has data of students of edu-tech organizations, GST, road transport organizations of various states, leading eco-commerce portals, social media platforms and consumers and customers of fintech companies.
Vinay has been arrested on Friday. The accused had divided this data into 104 categories and was selling this data. Some of the important data held by Vinay include data of mobile numbers of defence personnel, government employees, PAN card holders, students of class 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th, senior citizens, electricity consumers of Delhi, and people having D-mat accounts.
Apart from this, data of various individuals, NEET students, rich people, insured people, and credit card and debit card holders have also been found. The accused was selling data using a cloud drive link from a website 'InspireWebz' in Haryana's Faridabad.
Police seized two mobile phones and two laptops from him. Sensitive information about the government, private organizations and people has also been received from him.
