Many times it happens that when you go to make a payment, either the internet does not work or there is a network problem. If you are also worried about not being able to complete online transactions due to poor internet connectivity, then there is no need to worry anymore because now you can make UPI payments offline too.

National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has allowed offline UPI payments to customers. You can also make offline payments through a button phone, you don't need to have a smartphone. It is only necessary that your phone number is linked to the bank account. Let us know how you will be able to make offline payments.

Send money offline like this:

  • First of all, make a call by dialling *99# from the phone's dialer.
  • After this, you select the “1” option “Send Money”.
  • Next, you enter the UPI ID that you want to use for the transaction. Apart from this, you can also enter the phone number linked to your bank account or just the bank account number.
  • After this, you enter the amount you want to send. Keep in mind that the amount should be less than Rs 5000.
  • After this, you have to enter your UPI PIN.
  • The transaction will be completed as soon as you enter the UPI PIN.

Before sending money, you have to set for offline mode:

  • To set up, dial *99# from the phone's dialer. By dialing this number you will be able to do offline transactions for UPI and other related operations.
  • After this, you will be asked to select the language.
  • After this, you will have to enter the IFSC code of your bank in the text field.
  • Then enter option “1” or “2” or another option to link the bank account number and set up the payment process.
  • After this, you will have to enter the last six digits and expiry date of your debit card.
  • Just after this your offline UPI payment facility will be activated and you will be able to send money even without internet.
