Arctic Ocean: One lakh years ago, there was no ice in the Arctic during summer, information revealed in research

According to research by Nature Geoscience, a million years ago, there was no ice in the Arctic during summer. Researchers found in an analysis that a subpolar plankton species found in the waters of the Atlantic spread far into the Arctic Ocean during the last interglacial, 130,000 to 115,000 years ago, which meant that the Arctic was ice-free during summers.

Due to climate change, the earth is continuously warming, due to which the ice is melting very fast. Its effect is also being seen in the sea ice of the Arctic. Due to climate change and global warming, the Arctic ice is melting rapidly in summer. According to research, the Arctic ice will melt completely within this century.
According to research by Nature Geoscience, a million years ago, there was no ice in the Arctic during summer. Researchers found in an analysis that a subpolar plankton species found in the waters of the Atlantic was widespread in the Arctic Ocean during the last interglacial, 130,000 to 115,000 years ago, which means that the Arctic ice during summers - was free
Flor Vermasen, researcher at Stockholm University, said Earth's temperature during the last interglacial year was much higher than today's, and sea level was about six to nine meters higher than it is today. They noted that the Arctic Ocean was seasonally ice-free during the last interglacial. During this, Vermasen also expressed concern over the rising temperature of the earth.
He emphasized the study of climate and oceanographic models of the same period to understand the physical conditions and environment of the Arctic during the last interglacial. The sea surface temperature and other water mass parameters need to be re-evaluated, he said.
