Anurag Kashyap's statement on 'The Kerala Story' controversy: Said - The film should not be banned but it is propaganda
After superstar Kamal Haasan, now filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has also termed Adah Sharma's film 'The Kerala Story' as a propaganda film. According to media reports, while talking to a news portal, Anurag said that it is difficult for a film to be non-political and you cannot save a film from politics.
Talking about 'The Kerala Story', Anurag said that he is against the ban on this film but he believes that this film is propaganda. They don't want to make any such film that looks like propaganda. He believes in making only such films that have genuineness and truth in them.
Anurag, who recently attended the 76th Cannes Film Festival with his film 'Kennedy', said that in today's era, no one is spared from politics. It is very difficult for cinema to be non-political these days. He further said that there can be dishonesty in counter-propaganda, but to be honest, he cannot fight it.
Earlier, Kamal Haasan also termed 'The Kerala Story' as a propaganda film. He objected to the film and said that he was against such films. Later replying to him, the director of the film, Sudipto Sen said that those who have not seen the film, are giving the name of propaganda to this film.
Amidst all these statements, Sudipto Sen's directed film 'The Kerala Story' is getting a good response in theatres. Released on May 5, the film has so far collected Rs 264.4 crore worldwide. The film stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddi Idwani, and Sonia Balani in lead roles.
