Recently, the actor in an interview talked about the reason behind doing Hollywood films and the offer he got for 'Bend It Like Beckham'.
Anupam Kher in an interview talks about the reason behind joining Hollywood and not being confined to any one cinema. Kher said, 'I am always in competition with myself. I always say it can be better, so I had done so much work in India that I was thinking about how to make it difficult for myself because I think the biggest enemy of so much ability is glare. Because when you are doing so much work, you want to be a part of whatever was being made.
Talking about his journey to debut in his first international film 'Bend It Like Beckham', Anupam Kher said, 'I inquired about it because Deepak Nair was the producer of the film, so Gurinder Chadha told me that when I If he was in America, I should meet him in London. Then we met and he asked me will you do this film? I said yes.
Anupam Kher further added, 'After reading the script I said yaar meri lines nahi hai, which was the mindset of a Hindi film actor that lines are few. Then I had a conversation with Gurinder and he said don't worry when the film is ready, the audience will be happy with it. Because I belong to a Hindi medium school, I think in Hindi, it was very difficult for me when I started speaking in English. Actually, I had to first translate it from Hindi to English and then speak it in a way. But then that's what happened later in Silver Linings Playbook and a lot of movies that way. But all these roles were good because I went out of my comfort zone.
