Egypt will also stake its claim to host the Olympics-2036.
The head of the African National Olympic Committee Association (ANOCA) said on Sunday that Egypt will bid for the Olympic Games to be held in 2036 and 2040. He said that the country will stake its claim based on improved infrastructure and sports facilities.
Egypt has never hosted the Olympic Games. The country last tried to host the 2008 Olympic Games but it failed. Egypt, the most famous country among Arab countries, has recently spent a lot of money to build its infrastructure, sports complexes, and stadiums. The Egyptian International Olympic Committee complex has been built in the country's capital Cairo since 2025 and has a capacity of 93,900 spectators. Apart from this, 21 other sports stadiums are being built.
ANOCA head Mustafa Beraf said in a press conference, "Egypt will bid for the 2036 and 2040 Olympic Games."
Meanwhile, an Algerian sports administrator said that another country from the African continent can bid for hosting the Olympics. He said that South Africa's capital Cape Town is thinking about hosting the Olympics. Mustapha said, "Africa has a chance to host the Olympics. It can stake a claim for hosting the 2040 Olympics."
