Anant Ambani appointed Executive Director of Reliance Industries, leaving Isha and Akash behind in this matter

Anant, who is the youngest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, holds a significant responsibility at Reliance Industries Limited. He has been made an executive director on the company's board. The company made this announcement. Anant will serve for a term of five years, and his appointment will begin from 1st May. Anant Ambani, a Brown University graduate, is the first among his siblings to be made an Executive Director at Reliance.

Ambani appointed his three children - twins Isha and Akash, and Anant - as non-executive directors on the company's board, which operates businesses from oil to telecommunications, in August 2023 to prepare for the eventual succession strategy.

In recent years, Asia's richest man has said his children will play a key role in Reliance, India's most valuable and profitable company. Eldest son Akash has been chairman of the company's telecom arm, Jio Infocomm, since June 2022 after joining the entity in 2014.

His twin sister, Isha, handles the company's retail, e-commerce, and luxury businesses. Anant runs the new energy business overseas. All three children are on the board of Jio Platforms, the unit that owns Reliance's telecom and digital assets and Reliance Retail.

Reliance said in a notice to the stock exchange, "The Board of Directors of Reliance at its meeting held on April 25 considered the recommendation of the Human Resources, Nomination and Remuneration Committee and appointed non-executive director Anant M. Ambani as a whole-time director. He has also been designated as the executive director of the company. His appointment will be for a term of 5 years from May 1, 2025, subject to the approval of the members of the company."

Anant was appointed the leader of the company's energy vertical in August 2022. He has been on the board of Jio Platforms Limited since March 2020, the board of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited since May 2022 and the boards of Reliance New Energy Limited and Reliance New Solar Energy Limited since June 2021. He is also on the board of Reliance Foundation since September 2022.
