Home Minister Amit Shah has made an important announcement for disaster management, for which a budget of eight thousand crores has been fixed. Giving information about the schemes, Shah said that Rs 5000 crore will be spent on modern services for management and its expansion in the states.
Rs 2500 crore will be used to reduce flood risk in cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Pune. Apart from this, Rs 825 crore will be spent for 17 states and union territories under the National Landslide Risk Mitigation Plan.
After a meeting of disaster management ministers of states and union territories, Shah said the central government has achieved a lot in the last nine years in this area.
Amit Shah further said that we have achieved a lot and no one can deny it. But we cannot be satisfied with just this because disasters have changed their form. His intensity has increased. We have to make comprehensive plans. Now disasters are coming in some new areas as well. We have to prepare ourselves for all this. Shah said the states where nuclear power stations are being set up have been given strict protocols in case of emergencies.
