A cargo ship carrying around 3,000 cars caught fire in the North Sea off the coast of the Netherlands on July 25, killing one Indian crew member and injuring 20 others. All the Indians injured in this accident have returned home safely. An officer has given this information.
He said the body of a sailor who died in the incident is being brought back. A cargo ship en route from Germany to Egypt caught fire, killing one and injuring 20 others. However, to avoid the horrific accident, many members of the crew had to save their lives by jumping into the water. It is known that the ship was being operated entirely by Indians.
The Indian Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands, said on social media platform X that 20 Indian crew rescued from the ship Fremantle Highway returned to India safely last week. He also thanked the Dutch authorities for their support and assistance during this difficult time. He said that the mortal remains of one crew member, who unfortunately died in the incident, are being brought back.
The Dutch coast guard insisted that the cause of the fire on the 11-deck ship was not known. However, an audio recording of a rescue worker related to the incident surfaced, suggesting that it was an explosion of an electric vehicle's battery that caused the fire. Of the 3,783 cars on board, 498 were electric vehicles.
