PS 1 (Ponniyin Selvan) is the story of the early life of Arulmozhivarman (Ponniyin Selvan). The film is based on the life of the Chola emperor Rajaraja (947–1014). The film stars Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi in ​​lead roles and Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lakshmi, and Prakash Raj in lead roles.

He also tweeted that the film is reaching close to 400 crores at the worldwide box office.

PS 1 crossed the Rs 150 crore mark in Tamil Nadu over the weekend. It is now the second highest-grossing film in the state after Kamal Haasan's Vikram which earned around Rs 190 crore. The film marked Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's return to Tamil cinema after a decade. Aishwarya was playing dual roles - Nandini and her mute mother Mandakini Devi. Upon release, both the audience and critics were impressed with Aishwarya's performance. Mani Ratnam had recently said in a conversation that he is happy that he can make the film in two parts and release it now as the audience is ready to watch the film in multiple parts.
