All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi is going to start electric buses (e-buses) from nearby metro stations and bus stops to provide easy access to various facilities within the campus. The aim of this service is to solve problems like long walking distances, expensive auto rickshaws, and lack of transport options for patients and their attendants. So that travel on the campus can be easy and convenient.

According to officials, the aim of the e-bus service is to increase connectivity and services for patients. So that travel within the campus can be smooth. These 14-seater e-buses will be available only to AIIMS patients and their caregivers with modern facilities like air conditioning, low floor for easy entry, and wheelchair access.

The service will run every 10 minutes during peak hours (7 am to 7 pm) on regular days and every 15 minutes on holidays except Mondays. The e-buses will have designated stops for the convenience of patients, where there will also be a shelter and a call button. CCTV cameras and GPS tracking will also be installed in them for better safety and live monitoring. A mobile application will be available for real-time bus tracking and service feedback. In which the fare will be charged through UPI or AIIMS smart card.

Officials believe that this initiative will reduce traffic congestion, reduce environmental pollution, and carbon footprint, and reduce noise pollution.

Dr. (Professor) M Srinivas, Director, AIIMS Delhi, said, "As part of such initiatives being taken to provide the best patient care services to our patients, we are committed to improving the patient experience at AIIMS New Delhi every day. This initiative will not only solve the transportation problems of our patients. But will also provide a reliable and convenient ride within the campus." Dr. (Professor) Reema Dada, PIC of Media Cell, said, "We want the journey of patients visiting our campus along with their attendants to be completely smooth and hassle-free.
