South African cricket team's star batsman Aiden Markram has got a new responsibility in the team. Markram has been selected as the captain of the T20 team. Whereas, the Cricket Board of South Africa (CSA) has appointed JP Duminy as the batting coach and Rory Kleinveldt as the T20 and ODI bowling coach. Duminy will continue to be the coach of the ODI and T20 teams. At the same time, Rory Kleinveldt will join the team only for the West Indies tour.
After playing two Tests, South Africa will also play 3 ODIs on 16, 18 and 21 March. After this, there will be 3 T20 matches on 25, 26 and 28 March. Markram has taken over the captaincy of T20 in place of Temba Bavuma. Bavuma has been ruled out of the T20 series. Bavuma will be part of the Test and ODI squads.
Markram made the franchise team Sunrisers Eastern Cape the winner in his captaincy in the South Africa T20 League in February. Aiden Markram scored 366 runs in 12 matches in the SA20 league at an average of 33.27 and a strike rate of 127.97.
In IPL 2023, Aiden Markram has been made the captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team. Markram has played 20 matches in IPL so far. He scored 527 runs at a strike rate of 134.10. His average was 40.57 and he has also scored his 3 half-centuries. At the same time, last year he scored 381 runs in 14 matches of IPL at an average of 47.63. His best score was 68 runs.
