Politics remained heated throughout the day regarding the attack on Rahul Gandhi's convoy. Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said in the afternoon that during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Malda, unidentified persons had thrown stones at Rahul's car, due to which the glass was broken. He had accused TMC of attack.

After a few hours, Congress took a U-turn. It was clarified that in Malda district, the rear glass of Rahul Gandhi's car was broken due to sudden braking due to a woman coming in front of the vehicle. In this matter, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the attack took place in the Katihar area of neighbouring state Bihar. Congress wrote in a social media post, that a huge crowd had come to meet Rahul in Malda, West Bengal.
