Adani narrated the story of building his empire: Reached Mumbai empty-handed, earned 10000 from first commission
Gautam Adani said that while working in a diamond company, he soon decided to start his own business and in three years, he started his own diamond trading brokerage in Mumbai's Zaveri Bazaar.

Today, Gautam Adani may be the 19th richest man in the world, but once upon a time, he was penniless. At 16 years old, he came to Mumbai with nothing and with no one, seeking employment, and ended up working for a diamond company. Recalling his early days at Adani International School on Monday, industrialist Gautam Adani said that when he was 19 years old, he received a commission of Rs 10,000 from his first business transaction, and from here his business life started. Along with telling the story of building a successful business empire, Adani also said that he often regrets not being able to complete his college education.
Adani says, while working in a diamond company, he decided to start his own business and within three years, he started his own diamond trading brokerage in Mumbai's Zaveri Bazaar. He returned to Gujarat in 1981 and started helping his elder brother Mahasukhbhai, who had bought a small PVC film factory in Ahmedabad. In 1988, he established a commodity trading venture named Adani Exports and got it listed in 1994. Now the name of this company is Adani Enterprises.
Adani said, one should gain experience for wisdom but study is also necessary to gain knowledge. Both of these complement each other. Failures and obstacles will test you. The only difference between ordinary and extraordinary success is the fighting spirit, which gives the courage to stand up every time after falling.
