During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first official state visit to the US next week, well-known Hollywood actress and singer Mary Milben will perform at his events in New York and Washington DC. This information has been given in a release issued on Saturday.
Milben (38), an African-American citizen, is very popular in India for singing the national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana...' and 'Om Jai Jagdish Hare...'.
According to the release, Milben will participate in the event to be led by Prime Minister Modi on the ninth International Yoga Day on June 21 at the North Lawn of the United Nations Headquarters (UNHQ).
The actress said, “I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Modi for his first event in the US along with the President of the UN General Assembly, Saba Korosi, (India's) Permanent Representative to the UN Ruchira Kamboj and New York City Mayor Eric Adams. "
According to the release, Milben has also been invited to perform at an Indian community event to be held at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington on June 23.
Prime Minister Modi will visit the US from June 21 to June 24 at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. Joe Biden and his wife will host Modi for a state dinner on June 22.
Modi will address a joint session of the US Congress (Parliament) on 22 June. He will also address a gathering of Indian Americans from across the country on June 23 at the International Trade Center and Ronald Reagan Building in Washington.

Milben has been officially invited by the Steering Committee of the US Parliament to perform at various events during the official state visit of Prime Minister Modi. She will perform in front of Prime Minister Modi and other invitees at an event organized by the United States Indian Community Foundation (USICF) at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington DC on June 23.
Milben was invited to perform at India's 76th Independence Day celebrations in August 2022. With this, she became the first American and African-American artist to be invited to perform at the Independence Day ceremony.
