Countless tribes are scattered in every nook and corner of the world that still follow some of these rituals or customs which are beyond our comprehension. Cannibalism also forms part of the tradition in several of these communities, for example, the Yanomami Tribe. Another astonishing fact is there are some tribals who grind the bones of their dead family members into powder to make soup, or 'A Soup Made from Ashes' to drink. These customs, such as Funeral Rituals, however bizarre they may appear to one, bring a glimpse of religious or cultural significance to those communities.

The Yanomani tribal people live in the thick forests of South America: mainly northern Brazil and southern Venezuela. Their way of life in dwelling on the fringes of the Amazon rainforests is quite unique. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of strange customs among their cultures, one being the pepping of soup with the bones of their family members on their death and drinking it.

People from this tribe usually do not wear clothes and sleep under the open sky. The livelihood is very simple and these people depend on hunting and farming. The rituals and customs of this tribe are also very interesting, representing deep spiritual beliefs.

The tribal people of that area perform a very unique type of funeral ritual after the death of their relatives. In that ceremony, they prepare the ashes of the bones of the deceased in a special way to make soup and then drink it. They believe that by this action they protect the dead soul and give it peace. This community does not consider the condition of death as the last stop, but the beginning of a new form of life.

They say that this death is given by the evil spirits coming from another community's sorcerer. So, revival of their near and dear one's soul would definitely occur by drinking the ashes of the burnt body. The tribals are scattered over about 200 to 250 villages and they have been continuing this weird tradition generation after generation.

The Yanomani tribe has a very strange process of cremating the bodies of their dead family members. They leave the dead body of the person who died, covered with leaves in the nearby forest for around one month. Then they take out the bones from the body and burn them. These ashes, after the bones have been burned, are mixed with bananas to make a kind of soup that one drinks together with all the members of the community. This process is believed to give peace to the soul of the deceased and is a way of showing respect to the soul of the deceased.
