A hole in the wheel of NASA's Curiosity rover on Mars has been noted

For the first time, a hole has been developed in the wheel of the Curiosity rover that was sent to Mars by the US space agency NASA. Recently, pictures of the rover that has been on the red planet for about 12 years have been released by the space agency. In the pictures, many big holes are visible in the rover's wheel. This makes it clear that major damage has been suffered by the robot somewhere.

According to NASA, it has been shown by the picture taken by Curiosity's Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI) that a hole has been developed in the rover's right wheel due to long travel. Also, many big marks along with scratches are visible in the wheel. A big hole is also present in it, through which the inside of the wheel is visible. However, it is not clear when the holes were first made. Apart from this, such damage has not been detected in any other wheel.

Curiosity is still considered to be in good condition

A statement was made by mission engineer Ashley Stroup that the damage looks bad. But despite this, good condition is still attributed to Curiosity. No indication has been given that a stop will be encountered by the rover in the future. Earlier in 2022, it was observed by scientists that a rock was being carried with NASA's Perseverance rover.

Mars was reached by the rover for the first time in 2012

Mars was first reached by the Curiosity rover on August 5, 2012. It was initially expected to be worked on for only two years. However, much more work is being done than was expected by scientists. So far, more than 32 km around Gale Crater has been traveled by the Curiosity rover. This crater was originally landed in by it. During this time, signs of alien life were searched for by scientists and the back side of the Sun was observed. Many unique things have also been discovered by the rover, including a book-shaped rock and a mineral flower.
