The POCSO court has sentenced the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a case of minor rape committed last year in the area of ​​Kanod police station in Udaipur district.

While giving information about the matter at hand, Special Public Prosecutor Syed Hussain said that in February 2023, the minor of 11 years had gone to a community toilet located behind the school in Kanod to defecate. Wherein 72-year-old accused Mohanlal, son of Kalulal Regar resident of Kanod, forcibly intimidated her and physically exploited her.

She screamed, her friend ran inside and was shocked to see her friend in the clutches of the accused. She ran away and called her mother. The mother of the other girl joined at this spot and rescued the minor from the clutches of the accused Mohanlal. After this, the accused Mohanlal fled from the spot.

Afterwards, the accused Mohanlal beat up the minor's friend's mother and called himself innocent when she mentioned the incident in the neighborhood. When the girl's family came to know about the incident, a case was registered against the accused in Kanod police station.

The examination of the case brought out all the evidence against the accused. Evidence in the form of the FSL report also confirmed rape committed by the accused. The POCSO court awarded rigorous imprisonment of 20 years to the accused based on the evidence available in its judgment passed on Thursday.
