The participation of 55-year-old Nino Salukvadze in the Paris Olympics will prove historic. Representing Georgia in the Olympics, pistol shooter Nino has become the first female player in the world who played in ten Olympics. She previously represented the Soviet Union. Nineteen-year-old Nino participated in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, since then she has competed in each Olympic event up until 2024. At the 1988 Seoul Olympics, she won gold in the 25m pistol and silver in the 10-meter air pistol event. She was also trusted to be Georgia's flag bearer at the Paris Olympics, playing this role for the third time at these games.

However, Nino failed to make the final round of the 10m air pistol event at the Olympics in Paris. Nino stood 38th in the qualification round. Now she will compete in the 25m pistol on Friday.

Salukvadze competed once for the Soviet Union in 1988, and post-soviet dissolution for the unified team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Since then, she has competed for Georgia in the last eight Olympics.

Nino also came into the limelight at the 2008 Beijing Olympics when Russia fought a war with Georgia for some time. Salukvadze won the bronze medal and hugged Russia's Natalia Padrina, who won the silver medal, on the podium. Her sportsmanship won everyone's heart.

Not only Nino, her son Tisone Machavariani is also a shooter. Nino and her son Tisone represented Georgia at the 2016 Rio Olympics. This was the first mother-son pair to play at the same time in Olympic history. Tisone participated in the men's 10 meter air pistol event at the Rio Olympics.
